Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) World continues to evolve, and the recent Open Beta Update 2.9 introduces a host of improvements, fixes, and new features across various modules. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the key changes and enhancements made to the DCS World experience.
DCS 2.9 World General Improvements:
- ME. Resource Manager: Fixed an issue where the supplier arrow from the previous mission would sometimes remain.
- MP. Ships Livery: Ships’ liveries now match the specified mission.
- AI Aircraft: The S-3B Tanker received an updated 3D model.
- Stennis CVN-74: This carrier is now available for spawn and landing without the SC module.
- MP. Aircraft and Missiles Jitter: Resolved the issue of aircraft and missiles in flight “jittering” back and forth.
- AI Aircraft: The IL-76MD’s middle section can no longer endure too many hits.
- MP. TACAN Range: TACAN range is no longer stuck at 20 nm when Voice Chat is disabled.
- Graphics: Fixed issues related to graphical options, including Anti-Aliasing, Flat Shadows Blur, and SSS.
- Graphics: Addressed problems with Screen Space Shadows when using DLSS.
- MP. Rotor Wash Effect: The new rotor wash effect is now visible to other clients.
- Graphics: DLSS no longer causes blurring of FC3 aircraft HUD with rapid movement.
- Scripting Function: The issue with coalition.getPlayers() not returning CA controlled objects has been resolved.
- MP. Net Protocol Change: Old version servers will not be shown in the server list due to a net protocol change.
DCS: F-16C Viper Improvements:
- Fixed the issue where TDOA in MP caused severe server lag and high CPU usage on the server.
- Resolved the problem of TDOA generating frozen targets.
- AA FCR no longer detects ground units.
- Performing the BIT test will no longer remove lock tones from the RWR.
DCS: F/A-18C Improvements:
- Added a new pilot model from the first person (work in progress).
- Fixed the issue where jamming symbology was missing from the RDR ATTK page.
- Resolved a crash in missions with more than 1000 units.
- The sensor control switch aft is now operable in ACM bore mode.
- External fuel tanks now correctly MASK ATFLIR.
DCS: AH-64D Improvements:
- Fixed the issue where Attitude Hold sub-modes caused occasional oscillations in pitch and roll.
- Resolved the crash on Datalink BDA Send.
- Throttle levers now sync correctly in Multicrew.
- The circular pattern appearing in CPG monitor in certain conditions has been fixed.
DCS: Mi-24P Hind Improvements:
- Improved Petrovich AI targets detection tuning, taking into account various factors.
- Petrovich AI now scans for targets routinely from his cockpit when not using ATGM aiming sight.
- Petrovich AI reports contacts clockwise if detected, with subtitles.
DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer Improvements:
- Fixed the issue with the wrong radio for voice chat.
- SADL: Changing ID’s now affects all aircraft.
- GBU-31/38/54 now align correctly.
DCS: Yak-52 Improvements:
- Added LODs to the aircraft.
- Fixed a too small trigger zone in the take-off training mission.
DCS Supercarrier Improvements:
- Stennis CVN-74 is now available for spawn and landing without the SC module.
DCS Mirage F1 Improvements:
- Fixed issues with radios, fuel quantities, radar scan, ground crew interactions, animations, and more.
DCS: SA-342 Gazelle Improvements:
- Fixed VOIP radio selection.
DCS: C-101 Aviojet Improvements:
- The radio for transmission is correctly selected at hot start.
DCS: M-2000C Improvements:
- Added an IFF Transponder.
